Relay/3270 VM/VTAM (Updated
10/2/1998)
1) What is Relay/3270
for VM/VTAM?
Relay/3270 VM/VTAM provides 3270
emulation for personal computers which run Relay/Gold PC. It also
supports 3287 printers. It executes under GCS and uses the VTAM
API for all communication.
2) What is the currently supported version?
Version 5.00 at zap level 4 plus zap 999.
3) Is this product year 2000 compliant?
The latest version is Y2K compliant
4) Is this product supported on VM/ESA?
Yes, it was written for 31-bit processing and has been
successfully used with Version 2.3
5) What is the different between this product
and Relay/3270 VM?
The product requires GCS and VTAM. Relay/3270 VM runs in
as a userid on a native VM system.
6) How can I tell what zap level I have on
the product?
There is a zaplog in the minidisk for the R3270 userid
that specifies the number of zaps applied when the product was shipped.
If you cannot find a zaplog, look at the R3270 MODULE or R3270 TEXT
and youll see an eye-catcher ZAPS: R500V004R500V999
7) I need a new codeword; where do I find
the information about my current product?
If you are a new user of the product, contact NetManage with the
Product Serial Number of your tape, your CPU model and group number
and the CPUID (CPU serial number). This can be obtained by issuing
a query CPUID from the console. The response is as follows:
CPUID = FF02077296720000
CPUID is 020772; CPU model is 9672.
Relay uses the last 4 digits of the serial number
to generate a codeword. Zap 999 must be applied, unless you have
a tape dated later than May, 1998.
If you are a current user of Relay/3270 VM/VTAM
V5.00:
The Product Serial Number and the system
(or check) code are in the dataset called "R3270.DATALIB
in a member called PROFILE, for example:
INSTALL E500032 645 C345222
In this case the Product Serial Number is E411133
and the system or check code is 762.
If you are not a current user of Relay/3270
VM/VTAM, we recommend you upgrade especially if you upgrade VM to
ESA.
