- What If I have
NetManage's OnNet Kernel (32-Bit TCP/IP Stack) and I install
ViewNow for Windows?
Only the latest version of OnNet Kernel
(Version 4.0) is supported. Previous versions will need
to be replaced with either OnNet Kernel v4.0 or with Microsoft's
stack before installing ViewNow for Windows.
- What
if I install ViewNow for Windows from a network server using
NetManage's NFS software?
During the installation of ViewNow for Windows,
the NFS software will be removed. We recommend copying
the installation distribution to your local machine before
initiating install.
- What if I am running
Telnet from ViewNow for Windows, and I would like to demo
TN3270?
A user can install the TN3270 (or any other
application from ViewNow for Windows) as a demo. If the
user decides to purchase TN3270, they can use the license
upgrade tool to turn demo applications into full product.
- How does ViewNow for
Windows handle upgrades AND demo installations?
Applications with valid license keys are
installed permanently. Applications without valid license
keys are installed as 30-day evaluation versions. These
can be upgraded to permanent without re-installation by
running the license upgrade tool and supplying a valid
license key.
- How does the ViewNow
for Windows upgrade handle the migration of user data and
configuration settings?
The ViewNow for Windows installer has an
automatic mode and a manual mode for existing ViewNow
for Windows migrations:
Automatic:
If the installation was in the NetManage default path
then the upgrade installation will automatically migrate
the user settings to the newer applications.
Manual: If the installation
was not in the default NetManage path, then in this case
the migration wizards must be run to perform the migrations
manually.
- If an existing
customer just needs to test the new ViewNow for Windows
applications, does he lose his existing installation of
(NetManage/NetSoft/FTP/Relay) applications?
Yes. The installation performs a one-time
upgrade to ViewNow for Windows. Co-existence is not supported,
similarly to the policy between previous versions of NetManage/NetSoft/FTP/Relay
products.
- What is the plan
for customers whose older NFS server and FTP Server have
been removed from ViewNow for Windows?
While there is a new FTP server included
in the ViewNow for Windows product, they will loose functionality
as the NFS Server is not included ViewNow for Windows.
The server based applications are planned for release
in the near future.
- Today I am running
applications from NetManage/NetSoft/FTP/Relay. When upgrading
to ViewNow for Windows, can I continue to run my previous
products?
No. There is no backward compatibility,
nor any coexistence between old products and ViewNow for
Windows.
- If mixed installs
of ViewNow for Windows and any previous versions are not
supported on the same machine, are mixed deployments supported
(on separate machines) throughout my site?
Yes, provided that there will not be an
attempt of installing on the same machine an old NM/FTP/NetSoft/Relay
application together with a ViewNow for Windows application.
- I use ZMail and Telnet
from Chameleon v7.02. What happens when I upgrade to ViewNow
for Windows?
Zmail will not be removed, but Telnet will
be upgraded to ViewNow for Windows.
-
How is migration of NT
multi users handled?
Migration of NT multi users will be performed
for the current user only during the installation process.
All other users will need to migrate manually.
