  1. What product enhancements have been made to Z-Mail Pro (formerly Mail) since v5.0?

Z-Mail Pro now provides the following additional features:

    • IMAP Support
The IMAP feature handles mail on remote servers that are using the IMAP4 protocol. This allows you to
store, view, and retrieve mail on remote servers in a very similar manner to the way you handle e-mail
on your own machine. You can also copy mail messages back and forth between your remote folders and your local folders.

    • HTML Editing and Viewing
You can now view an HTML formatted document in standard HTML format when it is part of the article body, included as an attachment, or referenced as a URL within an article. You can also create and edit HTML formatted documents by using WebSpider. Use the "Edit in HTML/TextMode" and "View in HTML/Text Mode" options from the Settings menu to switch between the modes (HTML or Text) Forum will use to edit or view articles.

    • Secure Z-Mail™ Pro
Lets you send encrypted messages to specific Z-Mail™ Pro users.

    • Mailbox Converter
Lets you convert a cc:Mail mailbox, Eudora mailbox, Profs mailbox, and UNIX mailbox to Z-Mail™ Pro for local storage.

    • Z-Mail™ Pro Rules
Lets you execute a script when a given Z-Mail™ Pro rule is matched.

    • Z-Mail™ Pro Search Capabilities

      * Search Command

The Search command now lets you search mail headers and mail messages for specific strings. A string can be a letter, word, or phrase.

      * Fully-Indexed Search using Rapid Search and Indexing Agent

Rapid Search lets you search all mail messages that have been delivered to your mailbox, regardless of whether you have read them, for a specific string. You can search the title only, message body only, or both.

  2. What new email applications are included with v6.0?

Here is a list of the new email applications included with v6.0:

    • Mailbox Converter
The Mailbox Converter converts messages stored in cc:Mail, Eudora, Profs, UNIX, and Zmail (4.0) mail systems to the ChameleonNFS Z-Mail™ Pro message base. This conversion process needs to be run only once to convert accumulated messages from a different mail system to ChameleonNFS/X Z-Mail™ Pro. You may also run the converter from a command line. This application lets you convert a mailbox to Z-Mail™ Pro for local storage.

    • Mail Alias Viewer
You can now expand a mail alias for a particular server. This allows you to see the individual e-mail addresses that are included in the alias.

    • Rapid Search
Rapid Search tracks and finds all text indexed using the Indexing Agent. You can launch Rapid Search from the Rapid Search icon, or directly from WebSurfer and Z-Mail™ Pro.

    • Indexing Agent
The Indexing Agent tracks and collects all the indexed text as individual entries and displays them for WebSurfer and Z-Mail™ Pro. The Indexing Agent must be running for Rapid Search to work. All indexing is performed as a background task and requires no action on the part of the user. In WebSurfer, all text from all the Web pages you have viewed will be indexed. In Z-Mail™ Pro, all text from all messages in your Z-Mail™ Pro database will be indexed. This applies to all messages whether or not you have read them.

Note: This application requires a lot of system resources. To improve performance, stop the Indexing Agent service if you do not use it.

  3. Are there any known operational issues with Z-Mail Pro?

Here are known operational issues with Z-Mail Pro:

*The "Allow Modification" option is disabled in the Routing Slip dialog box.

*Your "inbox" will appear empty if you run the "Compact" option from Mail Administration while another mail-related application is open. This includes Tag-It! or Phone Tag. This problem presents itself when you start Z-Mail Pro. To correct this, log out of Z-Mail Pro and run this option again.

    HTML Support

*By default, Z-Mail Pro views all messages in HTML (views using the Web document viewer), thus allowing the Web URL references to be highlighted. This could cause some text reformatting. If you would like to switch to Text mode, choose the Preferences command under the Settings menu.

*When clicking on a highlighted URL, Z-Mail Pro allows users to view the Web document within the message window. Use the history list to go to previously viewed Web documents and to go to the next Web document that you want to view.

*If View in HTML Mode is selected, the image type attachments (TIFF and BMP will not fall under this category) will show as inline images.

*While replying to (or forwarding) an HTML message, if you have selected Text mode (Edit in HTML Mode not selected), the text portions will be extracted and included in the reply message.

*Editing/Replying/Forwarding a message in Edit in HTML Mode will use WebSpider and will allow only editing of one message at a time.

*Some of the editing and viewing options (such as font, wrap, include original message, and indent included message) will not work in the HTML edit mode. The signature option is ignored in HTML mode.

*The Bcc to myself option is not supported in HTML edit mode.

*Encryption/Decryption is not supported in HTML messages. If you have View in HTML Mode selected, decryption will not function. You should deselect the View in HTML option to decrypt the encrypted messages.

*Inserting an HTML document ( .HTM files) will create the message as an HTML message.

*When you are in HTML mode, if you are using a low-resolution display and an HTML page has a very wide table or a very wide image, the page will not be printed completely. The workaround is to use a high-resolution display or print the page in landscape mode.

    * When you use the HTML editing mode to send HTML messages, do not close the WebSpider window until you post the message from the edit window.
